The government of Maldives has reaffirmed its solidarity with the government of Saudi Arabia.
In a statement issued by Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maldives strongly rejected any attempts to undermine the sovereignty of any country, whether by threatening to impose sanctions or by putting political pressure towards reaching a political objective. In this regard, the government of Maldives supported the statement issued by Saudi Arabia on October 14.
In the statement, Saudi Arabia affirmed total rejection of any threats and attempts to undermine it, whether through economic sanctions, political pressure or repeating false accusations. Saudi Arabia further said if it is targeted by any action, it will respond with greater action. The statement also pointed out that the oil-rich kingdom plays an effective and vital role in the world economy.
Maldives said it is confident the government of Saudi Arabia is fully committed to the principles of rule of law and are in compliance with international laws and conventions. Maldives further commended the constructive role of Saudi Arabia in bringing harmony, peace and security to the entire region.
