First Lady returns to Maldives

First Lady of Maldives Fathimath Ibrahim has arrived in Maldives on conclusion of her trip to Saudi Arabia.

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom received the First Lady upon her arrival at Velana International Airport (VIA). In addition, deputy leaders of ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), cabinet ministers and government supporters gathered at the presidential Jetty, in Male’ City, to receive the first lady.

PPM revealed the first lady departed to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah, following allegations that she fled the country upon defeat of President Yameen in the presidential election. However, PPM has assured the first couple are not leaders who will flee the country when times are hard.
