PPM condemns disclosing confidential statements to social media

Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) has condemned disclosing statements in social media related to the case submitted to Supreme Court by President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom to annul the presidential election.

In a statement, PPM condemned the circulation of statements submitted to Supreme Court related to the case to annul the presidential election, adding the act was conducted to influence an ongoing case in court. Noting the judiciary must have the trust of all citizens and is an important pillar of the country, PPM called to immediately stop circulating statements which are submitted to the courts.

Moreover, PPM stated leaking such confidential statements makes it hard to disclose information. The ruling party called on the public to put forth the best practices of democracy.
