Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has stated the UK military aircraft landed at Velana International Airport (VIA) with permission. MNDF made the remarks following pictures being circulated in social media of a military aircraft with false information.
MNDF noted the aircraft arrived in Maldives after taking all necessary permissions and with diplomatic clearance. The aircraft arrived with spare parts to repair an aircraft that arrived in Maldives on October 8 for fuel but was grounded due to some technical issues, according to MNDF.
