New US Ambassador to Sri Lanka and Maldives swears-in

The new US Ambassador to Sri Lanka and Maldives Alaina Teplitz has sworn-in. She took the oath which was administered by Under Secretary David Hale.

A career foreign service officer, who had served as ambassador to Nepal since 2015, was nominated on May 24, 2018 by President Donald Trump to be the successor for Atul Keshap. Alaina previously served as a US diplomat in Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Middle East countries.

The post of US Ambassador to Sri Lanka and Maldives is currently filled by Atul Keshap, who was appointed in August 2016.
