Criminal Court orders release of former Judicial Administrator

Criminal Court of Maldives has ordered the release of imprisoned former Judicial Administrator Hassan Saeed. His release was ordered after reviewing his case, according to the Criminal Court.

The court had earlier sentenced him to jail for a period of 4 months and 24 days, after finding him guilty of obstructing justice. He was sentenced on July 19. He was arrested on February 5, in relation to the Supreme Court order of February 1.

Along with him, on the same night, Chief Justice Abdulla Saeed and Supreme Court Judge Ali Hameed were also arrested following allegations of accepting bribes. However, the charges were dropped in October.
