12 re-instated parliamentarians to be given tickets without a primary

Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom has revealed the 12 parliamentarians, who were recently re-instated, would be given tickets without a party primary to compete in the parliamentary elections.

In a tweet, the former president expressed the leaders of the coalition parties have made the decision to grant the tickets to the 12 parliamentarians, who were expelled from the ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), following an attempt to oust Parliament Speaker Abdullah Maseeh Mohamed via a parliamentary no-confidence motion.

Moreover, former President Mohamed Nasheed had also met the 12 parliamentarians and held discussions to grant them the tickets without a party primary. During the meeting, the former president applauded the efforts of the parliamentarians for their efforts to defend their seats and the rights of their constituents.
