No changes brought to constituencies, except in Male' City

Elections Commission of Maldives has revealed no changes will be brought to the constituencies for the parliamentary elections, except for introducing two new constituencies in Male' City.

Speaking to PSM News, Spokesperson of Elections Commission Ahmed Akram said for the upcoming elections, the electoral body has decided to separate West-Henveiru and Mid-Machchangoalhi and create two new constituencies for the capital city.

Elections Commission brought the changes following the alterations in the population in the areas. Meanwhile, the commission assured even though discussions were held to increase the number of constituencies in other atolls, no changes were brought to those areas.

Following the changes, the parliament would consist of 87 seats.
