Nazim signs for Jumhooree Party

Former Minister of Defence and National Security Colonel (Retd.) Mohamed Nazim has signed as a member of Jumhooree Party.

In a special ceremony held in the main party headquarter, the former defence minister signed in the presence of Leader of Jumhooree Party Qasim Ibrahim, who accepted his membership form. The ceremony was attended by leading members of the party.

The former minister was previously a member of the ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM). However, Nazim quit the party following his arrest on terrorism charges after finding a fire arm at his residence. He was later sentenced to 11-years in prison.

The former Colonel signed as a member of Jumhooree Party following a release order by Supreme Court until his jail sentence is reviewed. He was in Malaysia for medical treatment when the Supreme Court ordered his release.
