Coalition should not influence President-Elect regarding cabinet: Nasheed

Former President Mohamed Nasheed has stated the cabinet is a constitutional right of President-Elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and coalition partners should not influence the decisions made regarding the formation of the cabinet.

Addressing the citizens of Ukulhas in Alifu Alifu Atoll, the former president said it is clear Ibrahim Mohamed Solih was elected with support from a coalition adding; however, it does not give the parties any legal right to influence the cabinet preferred by the president-elect. Moreover, President Nasheed stated the cabinet must be formed with the ideology of the coalition along with hopes and policies for the next five years.

Ibrahim Mohamed Solih will form a cabinet with 19 ministers.
