President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has established the Committee on Releasing Political Detainees, in his efforts to release the detainees who have been criminally charged for political motives.
The committee was established on the first day of President Solih’s term, 17 November 2018, in line with his electoral pledge to initiate the task on the first day of office.
The committee consists of Minister of Home Affairs, Commissioner of Police, Legal Counsel to the President and the Attorney General.
