Naval ships taking part in the trilateral military exercise, Dosti-14, have arrived in Maldives.
Over 200 soldiers from Maldives, Sri Lanka and India are expected to take part in the military exercise, according to Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF). Dosti-14 is scheduled to begin tomorrow morning.
Speaking to media about the final preparations, Lieutenant Colonel Mohamed Saleem said two Indian Coast Guard ships, Samar and Aryaman, an Indian Donier airplane, the on board helicopter of Samar, in addition to Maldives Coast Guard ship Huravee and Sri Lankan Coast Guard Ship Shuraksha will take part in the exercise.
Focus would be on course of action in the event of an oil spill, pirate attacks and what could be done to prevent such incidences, according to Major Rizmy Waleed, who would be leading the Maldivian troops participating in the exercise.
