Minister of Communication, Science and Technology Mohamed Maleeh Jamaal has revealed sustainable development cannot be brought to Maldives without an institution such as the National Centre for Information Technology (NCIT).
Speaking to media, Minister Maleeh Jamal stated during the past presidency, the mandate of NCIT was carried out by several ministries which halted the efforts of the institution. The minister said even though the previous government brought economic development to the country, it failed in bringing the much anticipated technological development. Noting the current administration prioritises technological improvement, Minister Maleeh expressed one main aim would be to provide a working environment for interested individuals in the sector.
On conclusion, he revealed plans to establish an open data system under the e-government master plan of the administration.
