Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid has revealed a new visa agreement between Maldives and India will be signed during the upcoming state visit of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
The foreign minister said the new agreement will ease the difficulties faced by parents and guardians of Maldivian students studying in India and Maldivians who travel to India for medical treatment. However, Minister Shahid did not reveal any further details.
Foreign Ministers of both countries have revealed President Solih make a state visit to India on December 17, as his maiden trip abroad, exactly one month after swearing-in as the president. Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi was among the high-level dignitaries who attended the swearing-in ceremony of President Solih on November 17.
