Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid has concluded his official visit to India.
During his maiden visit, the foreign minister called on President of India Ram Nath Kovind and met with Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj, Minister of Defence Nirmala Sitharaman and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. In his meetings, Minister Shahid highlighted the importance accorded by the new government to renewing the traditional ties of friendship that has always existed between the Maldives and India, and discussed ways to further strength the relationship. The delegation also met with the representatives of the Confederation of Indian Industry to discuss investment opportunities in Maldives.
Further, the minister also discussed the preparations for President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's forthcoming State Visit to India.
During his visit to India, the foreign minister was accompanied by Minister of Finance Ibrahim Ameer and Minister of Economic Development Fayyaz Ismail.
