Police begins investigating case against Sealife Global

Maldives Police Service has begun investigating a case against Sealife Global Inc. Private Limited for orchestrating a housing scam.

The lawsuit seeks compensation for booking fees and rental value collected by the company. Victims of the housing scam have come forward against Sealife Global for taking down payments and failing to actually construct the housing units, according to the police. The police service has advised the tenants to submit any documentations that may assist the investigation.

Three years ago, Sealife Global announced the project to construct 3,000 apartments in Hulhumale'. Several individuals have paid more than USD 1,600 as down payment to purchase the apartments from the first phase of the project. Failing to receive the apartments an year after the payments were made, some tenants have filed a case at Civil Court of Maldives.

Furthermore, Anti-Corruption Commission of Maldives is also investigating a case against Sealife Global.
