Parliament of Maldives has passed the proposal of the government to eliminate Goods and Services Tax (GST) on sanitary napkins.
The proposal of the government was passed unanimously with all parliamentarians who attended the session. While Parliamentarian Abdul Bari Abdulla submitted to eliminate GST on sanitary napkins, it was a pledge to be fulfilled in the first 100 days of the presidential term of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
During the debate process, all parliamentarians who spoke agreed that basic necessities must be tax free.
