Garden City University has decided to award a doctorate degree to former President Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom. The Bangalore-based university in India will confer doctorate degrees or honorary PHDs to two individuals at the start of the academic year 2019 on June 24.
The university revealed one of the individuals is the Chairman of Maumoon Foundation former President Maumoon. In this regard, Chancellor of the university Dr. Joseph V.G travelled to Maldives and handed over the letter confirming the former president will receive the doctorate degree.
Since 2008, Maumoon Foundation has provided scholarships for Maldivian students to attain higher education from Garden City University.
