Committee on Oversight of the Government has passed to give approval to all members of the cabinet. The decision was made with all 9 committee members, in attendance, voting in favour.
The president shall submit to the Parliament, within seven days of making appointments to the cabinet, the names of the appointees for approval of the parliament, according to Article 129 (d) of the Constitution of Maldives. President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih announced a cabinet of 20 members, including the attorney general, after taking the oath of office on November 17.
The Committee on Oversight of the Government also passed that all ministers should give up any business owned by them or affiliated by them, during their time in the cabinet.
