Vice President launches "Know Your Status" campaign

Vice President Faisal Naseem has announced plan of the administration to establish a multi-sectoral coordination mechanism to harmonise existing mechanisms and to steer and oversee HIV prevention programmes. The vice president made the announcement speaking at the ceremony held to launch the Know Your Status HIV testing campaign, as part of the World AIDS Day 2018.

The launching event was held at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), in collaboration with Health Protection Agency (HPA) and Society for Health Education (SHE).

In his speech, Vice President Naseem underscored HIV testing and knowing one's status is essential to implementing successful, systematic prevention programmes. He also highlighted the importance of civil society and community based organizations in the AIDS prevention process, and stressed the need for increased funding to support civil society organisations in the cause.

As part of this year's World AIDS Day campaign, Vice President Faisal Naseem participated in the Know Your Status HIV testing.
