President’s Office opens for complaints submissions for political detainees

The President’s Office has opened for submission of complaints by those who have been detained, or criminally charged, or sentenced, to gain political motives, since February 1, 2012. Complaints are to be submitted to the President’s Office within 30 days from December 6, according to the President’s Office.

Releasing those who have been detained, or criminally charged, or sentenced to gain political motives was a major electoral pledge of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. In keeping with his pledge, President Solih has established Committee on Releasing Political Detainees on the first day of his Presidential term, November 17, 2018.
