The government of Maldives has launched a special scholarship programme for aviation sector. The scholarship programme was launched by Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Aishath Nahula at a ceremony held to celebrate the International Civil Aviation Day.
Addressing the ceremony, Transport Minister Aishath Nahula said the scholarship named "Next Gen Aviators" was introduced under the efforts to build human resource in the sector, realising the importance of quality staff to enhance the service.
Highlighting the aviation industry contribute 40 percent of the Maldivian economy, the transport minister noted reducing air fare is a pledge of the administration. Moreover, the minister also revealed plans to commence commercial helicopter services in Maldives.
Details of the scholarship programme will be published in the coming days, according to civil aviation ministry.
