National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC) has stated damages sustained due to flooding in Male' City followed by heavy rain on Wednesday amounted to over USD 77,000.
Speaking to media regarding the damages and the rescue operation, Project Director of NDMC Hisaan Hassan revealed 214 households sought assistance following the floods while assistance have been provided to 173 households. Highlighting the assessment of the remaining households were delayed due to different reasons, Hisaan stated a detailed assessment on all households would be concluded by Monday.
Moreover, Hisaan added 6 houses incurred major damages due to flooding. Furthermore, Hisaan noted goods such as mattresses, pillows, clothes and other daily household items were given to the families. She further added funds will be given to families within the guidelines once the detailed assessment are concluded.
