7,498 cases filed at HRCM, 7,341 investigated in 2018

Human Rights Commission of Maldives (HRCM) has revealed it had received 7,498 cases related to human rights violations so far this year. 7,341 cases were investigated, adding several surveys were conducted following the findings of the investigations, President of HRCM Aminath Enas said in a statement issued commemorating International Human Rights Day.

In this regard, the head of the human rights body in Maldives revealed surveys on Right to Sexual and Reproductive Health Education, Benchmark on Migrant Workers Rights, Child Participation in the Maldives - an Assessment of Knowledge, Six Years On - The ''Rights'' Side of Life, Baseline Assessment on Activities Addressing Rights of Persons with Disabilities, Report On The Employment Situation in the Maldives, Report on Causes for Increase in Incidents of Crime, Housing Assessment Report have been conducted by the commission.

Moreover, Enas highlighted the efforts exerted by HRCM to ensure the rights and programmes conducted to create awareness in the public. Furthermore, in the statement, she revealed the aim of HRCM is to enhance the human right efforts in Maldives and to provide services closely to public.
