56th session of the Programming Committee of SAARC begins in Kathmandu

The 56th Session of the Programming Committee of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) has commenced in Kathmandu, Nepal.

The committee, under the chairmanship of Nepal will deliberate on matters related to important areas of cooperation such as poverty alleviation, education, agriculture, rural development, terrorism and trade. The two-day meeting will further consider and make recommendations on matters related to SAARC Regional Centres and specialised bodies such as SARCO, SARSO, South Asian University and SAARC Development Fund.

The Maldives is represented at the meeting by Director Ismail Mamdhooh and Desk Officer Shafgath Shafeeq from Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
