President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has underscored the most important component of the foreign policy implemented by the administration is to protect the sovereignty of Maldives and to enhance the national security and protection.
Addressing the function held to meet with the Maldivian community residing in India, President Solih assured the administration will not hinder sovereignty and security of the country to enhance bilateral ties with countries. The president said the second component of the foreign policy of Maldives will be to increase the economic productivity of the country. On the same note, he encouraged and welcomed foreign investors to the country and highlighted Maldives will forever be grateful and will accept the assistance extended by friendly nations.
Moreover, noting it is crucial to enhance and establish relations with international partners to ensure the safety and security of a small island nation like Maldives, President Solih reiterated the administration will not put foreign relations in jeopardy. In this regard, the president noted the importance of established good relations with India to ensure the safety and security of the region. He underlined his three-day visit will heighten the India-Maldives relations.
In his maiden state visit, President Solih is in India on a three-day visit on initiation from Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. First Lady Fazna Ahmed and a high level delegation of the government are accompanying the president on his visit.
