President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has called to learn from terrible tragedy which caused a death of a young girl and resolve to enforce stronger safety measures.
The President in the tweet said there is no greater sadness than the passing of a child’s life extending sincere condolences to the parents and family of young Rawshan Jian. President also extended his condolences to the family of Rawshan Jian, the little girl who sustained serious injuries while walking on the pavement next to a construction site in Malé on Sunday.
Subsequent to yesterday’s unfortunate incident, the President's Office has sent a letter to the Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure, conveying President Solih's instructions to conduct a thorough review of the current safety regulations for construction sites, and revise the guidelines to ensure safety of construction workers and the general public.
In the letter, President Solih has also instructed the Ministry to lead a full inspection of all construction sites immediately, and take necessary actions against those in violation of the current guidelines.
