MTD submits 3,000 forms required to legalise the party

Maldives Third-way Democrats (MTD) has submitted over 3,000 membership forms to legalise the party.

President of Maldives National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MNCCI) Ahmed Asif, who is actively engaged in forming the party, submitted a total of 3,333 membership forms to the Elections Commission of Maldives.

Efforts are underway to process the forms after checking its validity, according to spokesperson and member of the commission Ahmed Akram. He stated the permission to hold the first party gathering will be given once the forms are checked.

The Political Party Act requires 300 registered members to attend the meeting held to form the party. The party manifesto and charter must be finalised in the meeting which should be held in the presence of the commission. The permission to form MTD was granted by the electoral body on November 29.
