Maldives Police Service has introduced Neighbourhood Support Officers in Male' region.
The Neighbourhood Support Officers was officially inaugurated by Minister of Home Affairs Imran Abdulla at a ceremony held at Iskandar Koshi. Police officers must work together and closely with the citizens to ensure safety and security, Home Minister Imran Abdulla said addressing the ceremony.
Meanwhile, acting Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed revealed with the introduction of the new service, neighbourhoods will be introduced in Greater Male' Region, along with an officer in each neighbourhood. For the operation to be conducted efficiently, the Greater Male' Region is divided into 8 neighbourhoods.
In each region, a senior ranked police officer will be on duty with a team of police officers, according to Maldives Police Service.
