Aviation Ministry sends reduced domestic airfare prices to President’s Office for approval

Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has revealed the reduced domestic airfare rates have been forwarded to the President's Office for approval.

At a press conference held last Wednesday, Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Aishath Nahula announced domestic airfare shall be reduced and details regarding the reduced rates would be revealed in a couple of days. However, a week later, the details regarding the reduced rates are yet to be announced leaving the public disgruntled.

Commenting on the situation, officials from the ministry informed the final say on the matter would be from the President's Office after deliberations with the Ministry of Finance. The ministry expressed hope for a swift announcement.

Reducing domestic airfare is a presidential pledge of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and has been included among the goals set for the first 30-days of the administration.
