Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid has recognised and commended the role of Japan in the global arena in pushing for action against climate change.
The foreign minister recognised and thanked the government of Japan during a meeting held with Minister of Environment of Japan Yoshiaka Harada in Tokyo. During the meeting, Minister Shahid further thanked the Japanese Government for the continuous assistance to Maldives in building the resilience and disaster risk reduction of Maldives. Japan reassured commitment to continue assisting the Maldives and both ministers discussed possibility of new projects in areas such as coastal protection, water supply networks and sanitation mechanism.
The foreign minister is accompanied by Minister of Finance Ibrahim Ameer and Minister of Economic Development Fayyaz Ismail, along with officials from Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Maldives and the Embassy of Maldives in Japan.
