Breakfast for all students to be initiated in the second term

Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Ali has revealed the nationwide project to provide breakfast for all students will commence in the second term, depending on the results of the pilot project which will be launched in the first half of the academic new year 2019.

Speaking at the forum held to gather public opinion on the project, Education Minister Aishath Ali assured to monitor whether the meals provided to the students are healthy and hygienic. She revealed information is being collected on student's health and other relevant notes before the project kicks off.

During the forum, many parents questioned whether the project can be monitored enough and noted the importance of giving enough time for students to have the breakfast. Answering the questions, the minister said the project will be well monitored. She affirmed the meals provided will be fresh and Health Protection Agency (HPA) will be monitoring the places the meals are prepared.

Providing breakfast for all students is a presidential pledge of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
