Velana International Airport (VIA) has broken its previous record on the highest number of Air Traffic Movements (ATMs) in a single Day on December 23.
On December 23, there were 110 International ATMs, 102 Domestic ATMs and 517 seaplane ATMs at VIA, confirms Air Traffic Management Services of Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL). 729 is the highest ever-recorded ATMs at VIA, since its official opening on April 12, 1966. This is an increase of 85 ATMs compared to the previous record of 644 ATMs on January 9, 2018.
Apart from ATMS, VIA handled 17,723 International passengers and 4,269 domestic passengers totalling to 21,992 passengers on December 23. Meanwhile, seaplane operators handled more than 5,500 passengers.
