Nasheed welcome JP's decision to contest for all 87 constituencies

Former President Mohamed Nasheed has welcomed the decision of Jumhooree Party (JP) to contest for all 87 constituencies in the parliamentary elections, describing it is an achievement for democracy in Maldives.

In a tweet, former President Nasheed said JP has cleared a path for the people to follow the road aligning with democracy. JP has opened opportunity for interested contestants to run for all parliament seats in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

However, opinion regarding the parliamentary elections are widely divided in the ruling government coalition with no common grounds achieved. President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has met will all coalition leaders to come to an agreement regarding the allocation of the constituencies among the coalition parties.
