Vice President encourages adapting to healthier lifestyles

Vice President Faisal Naseem has urged all Maldivians to support the administration in implementing programmes related to social issues.

Addressing the ceremony held to launch the activities to be carried out in creating awareness on prevention of harmful lifestyle habits, as part of the administration’s first 100-day goals, Vice President Faisal Naseem highlighted the rise in non-communicable diseases among Maldivians. Previous administrations have had to undertake great expenditure on providing medical care for diseases related to unhealthy life choices, the vice president noted.

Moreover, the vice president urged everyone to be part of the programme and stressed the importance of instilling awareness among young children, to adopt a healthier lifestyle. The vice president pledged to refrain from using energy drinks hereafter to encourage adapting to healthier lifestyles.

During the ceremony held at Hotel Jen, the activities to be carried out by Ministry of Health under the 100-day pledge policy was initiated by vice president. At the ceremony, he presented the letter of appointment to the members of the Health Promotion Advisory Board, tasked with providing recommendations and technical advice on conducting the health awareness programmes.
