National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC) has revealed preparing for emergency response will be made easier with the establishment of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
Speaking to PSM News, Senior Programme Officer Faroosha Ali said the national disaster plan will be enhanced with the introduction of the authority. She added efforts to minimise the disaster risks and monitoring the processes will also be made easier.
Moreover, Faroosha stated several challenges were faced in the operations of the NDMC following the delay in the establishment of the authority, even though the National Disaster Management Act was ratified in 2015.
Furthermore, Faroosha noted the efforts towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will also be strengthened with the establishment of the NDMA.
