Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure has revealed efforts are underway to ensure the job security for the employees of Maldives Road Development Corporation (MRDC).
The past administration abolished MRDC in January and transferred over 700 employees, including 200 foreigners, under the then Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure.
Speaking to PSM News, Minister of State for Ministry of Planning and Infrastructure Akram Kamaluddin said the employees of MRDC were not given much of a choice by the previous administration, adding no decision was made regarding the future of the 700 employees.
However, the state minister assured efforts are underway to grant them the job security they deserve, highlighting even though all the 700 employees might not be kept in employment, priority will be given to the 500 Maldivians.
