President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated the importance Maldivians attached in implementing the freedom ensured by the constitution of Maldives was experienced last year.
In the presidential message extending greetings of the new year 2019, President Solih said Maldivians must be considered lucky as all political leaders are on a common ground to ensure the democracy is upheld in Maldives and to make the Maldivian dreams come true. The president further said Maldivians brought the change within their constitutional rights with high hopes to eliminate corruption, to save the nation, ensure basic rights to everyone despite political ideologies and to ensure the freedom.
Moreover, congratulating on the new year, President expressed the new year will bring important political changes highlighting the parliamentary elections to be held on April 6. The president noted the decisions made during the parliamentary elections are crucial and delicate as it shapes the constitutional framework of Maldives.
