Deputy Mayor of Male' City Council Shamau Shareef has stated efforts are underway to clear land in several areas in Male' to solve the parking issues faced in the capital city.
Speaking on a programme aired on PSM News, Deputy Mayor Shamau Shareef noted some roads does not have parking spaces, adding due to bringing changes to the traffic flow without the relevant surveys, the parking issues have worsen in the recent past. Shamau stated there are huge unused lands in Male' City, adding if those spaces are allocated for parking, the issues faced by the citizens are expected to be solved. Shamau highlighted so far 10 land plots have been identified by the council.
Moreover, the deputy mayor said some roads have also been closed due for construction, revealing efforts are underway to open such roads to traffic. He added efforts are underway to change the traffic flow of Male' to solve the traffic issues, noting the completion of ring road will ease public transportation.
