Male' City Council has decided to change the name of Rasrani Bageecha back to Sultan Park.
Speaking to PSM News, Deputy Mayor of Male' City Council Shamau Shareef said the decision was made unanimously by all members of the city council. Shamau stated decision was made upon the advice of Ministry of Arts, Culture and Heritage as Sultan Park is an important historical site of Maldives. The deputy mayor noted efforts are swiftly underway to rebrand the name of Rasrani Bageecha to Sultan Park.
Following the structure and name change of Sultan Park, the general public criticised the past administration for renaming the largest park in the capital city. While maintaining roads and parks were handed over to the then Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure, the current administration has granted the powers and authorities back to Male' City Council.
