President’s Office has received 451 cases of employees who were terminated or demoted unfairly for political reasons by the previous administration.
President’s office opened the opportunity to submit cases of politically motivated termination from jobs and demotions by the previous administration on December 3 for a period of 30 days. However, the President’s Office has now extended the deadline.
Speaking to the press, Under Secretary at Policy Office of President’s Office Ahmed Hamdhaan said the previous administration terminated and demoted employees for political reasons at a concerning level. Hamdhaan added the administration aims to grant such individuals with justice as soon as possible. He revealed the presidential acting committee has now begun collecting information on the submissions.
It is an electoral pledge of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to grant justice for individuals who were terminated or demoted for political reasons by the previous administration within the first 100 days.
