President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has expressed hope and confidence Maldives and Australia will continue working together on international issues of mutual concern, to further strengthen the existing ties between the two countries.
During the farewell call by Ambassador of Australia to Maldives Bryce Hutchesson, President Solih highlighted the foreign policy of Maldives priority human rights, climate change, and democratic consolidation. During the meeting held at the President's Office, the president also noted Maldives and Australia have enjoyed a historic and close relationship based on mutual respect, understanding and shared values. The president also expressed his interest in working together on anti-corruption measures, judicial reform, and human resource development.
Meanwhile, Bryce Hutchesson emphasised it was an immense pleasure to have served as the ambassador of Australia to Maldives and assured his commitment to continue working closely with the government of Maldives in further strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries. He also welcomed the decision of the government of Maldives to re-join the Commonwealth.
Moreover, he praised the successes of the first 100-day agenda pledged by the administration.
