Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has decided to hand over bus operations conducted by Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) in Male’, Hulhule’ and Hulhumale’ to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).
Addressing a press conference, Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Aishath Nahula said as two companies are providing the same services, the public has raised concerns on the difficulty in travelling. The minister said she personally has experienced the issue, adding if one company is providing the services, the existing challenges will be eliminated. In this regard, the minister expressed the administration has decided to handover all bus operations to MTCC. She further revealed plans to introduce mini bus services, highlighting the vehicles will be environment friendly.
Meanwhile, Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has decided to make it compulsory to install metres in taxis and wear helmets when travelling on the Sina-Male' Bridge.
