Administration to generate 40,000 jobs within the next 5 years

Minister of Economic Development Fayyaz Ismail has revealed the aim of the administration is to generate 40,000 jobs within the next 5 years. He made the remarks at the ceremony held to inaugurate the career guidance programme of Mandhu College.

Speaking at the ceremony, the economic minister noted the government also aims to enhance the economy of the country with the participation of the private companies. The minister said the past administration did not provide opportunities to empower private companies, adding the current administration will, however, exert the effort to enhance the private sector.

Continuing on, Minister Fayyaz expressed, under the policy, the administration aims to generate between 30,000 and 40,000 jobs within the five years in office.

Moreover, the minister revealed the education sector is also important to enhance the economy, highlighting the private sector can play a major role in introducing world renowned facilities to enhance the education sector. He said the aim of the administration is to engage more Maldivians in jobs rather than decreasing the number of expatriates.
