UAE express keenness to further develop interests in Maldives

UAE have expressed keenness to further develop interests in Maldives.

During a courtesy call on President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of UAE Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan emphasised on cooperating in tourism, infrastructure, renewable energy, and enhancing connectivity with Maldives.

Speaking at the call, the foreign minister of UAE stated he was very pleased with the success of the Zayed Sustainability Awards Week, and the international popularity the event gained. He specified Maldives is one of the strongest advocates of climate change and further emphasised on the fact that advocacy can be strengthened through reduction of emissions. He further reiterated hope for long-term strategic and prosperous relationship.

During the meeting, President Solih expressed profound honour to attend the Zayed Sustainability Awards Ceremony and stated Maldives can learn much from the empowering projects presented at the event. He also highlighted the Zayed Future Energy Prize awarded to Addu High School in 2015.

The president also met with Minister of Energy and Industry Suhail Mohamed Faraj Al Mazrouei.

Furthermore, the president toured Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. He also presented the Zayed Sustainability Prize to one of the 10 winners of the 11th edition of the award. The awarding ceremony was part of the opening ceremony of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) 2019.

President Solih is in UAE on invitation from Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
