India remains a key partner in the development of Maldives: Vice President

Vice President Faisal Naseem has stated India remains a robust partner in the development of Maldives. The vice president made the remark while speaking at the ceremony held to mark Republic Day of India.

During the ceremony, the vice president conveyed greetings and well wishes to Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and the people of India. The vice president shed light on the relationship between two nations. In this regard, he noted the bond between the two countries is far beyond bilateral ties and it is forged through years of acquaintance, shared traditions and aspirations.

Moreover speaking about the common views shared between both countries, Vice President Faisal Naseem noted the constitutions of both nations share the same underlying spirit and intent; to provide the citizens with the rights and freedoms of a democratic society, and to the values that bind the social fabric.

Concluding the speech, the vice president noted happily that India has proven to be a consistent and generous friend, and that India has always come to the assistance of Maldives when it is needed the most. He also underscored how deeply Maldives values the ties with India and the administration’s commitment to ensuring Maldives can work together in a spirit of friendship for mutual benefit.
