Foreign Minister meets senior UK government officials

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives Abdulla Shahid has met with senior UK government officials and the vice chairperson of the ruling conservative party.

In this regard, Foreign Minister Shahid met Minister of State for Trade and Policy George Hollingbery and discussed potential areas of trade cooperation between Maldives and UK. During the meeting, discussions were held to enhance the trade ties between both countries and widen the scope of business relations.

Furthermore, Foreign Minister met Vice Chairperson of Conservative party Helen Grant. During the meeting held at the Westminster Palace, the foreign minister thanked the closeness UK attaches with Maldives.

In addition, Minister met with members of conservative party David Amess and Hugo Swire, and thanked them for the continued support to Maldives and discussed areas of cooperation.

During the visit to UK, Minister Shahid has met with several UK government officials and the Commonwealth Secretary General.

The foreign minister is on an official visit to UK to attend the 29th Governing Council Meeting of Community of Democracies.
