PSM holds discussions with Parliament Speaker on telecasting proceedings

Senior officials of Public Service Media (PSM) has held discussions with Parliament Speaker Qasim Ibrahim regarding the telecast of parliament sittings and proceedings at parliamentary committee meetings.

During the meeting, Deputy Managing Director of PSM, Mohamed Shameem and Chief Operating Officer Ibrahim Rasheed held expansive discussions on the subject and highlighted the challenges the company currently faces and discussed ways in which the challenges can be overcome.

At the meeting, the speaker expressed his desire to open parliament sittings and committee meetings to media, as much as possible. He also shared details regarding the efforts to make the Parliament a media-friendly institution. In this regard, the speaker highlighted efforts to upgrade equipment used to telecast parliament proceedings and finding a solution for the space restrictions faced by the Parliament. He also noted the importance of using Majlis TV, operated by PSM, to create awareness and assured the Parliament would provide necessary assistance to the state broadcaster.

At the meeting, Deputy Managing Director Shameem requested technical expertise from the Parliament to create content for Majlis TV and in live casting parliament sittings and committee meetings.
