Minister of Gender, Family and Social Services Shidhatha Shareef has expressed India has always assisted Maldives in social development, describing India as one of the closest social development partners of Maldives.
Speaking at the round table interactions organised by Vivekananda International Foundation in New Delhi, Gender Minister Shidhatha Shareef mentioned India and Maldives share traditional ties, adding the relations were maintained between both countries due to the resemblance of culture and tradition. She expressed the close bonds benefit both countries in all sectors, highlighting the assistance provided by India in social development and women empowerment.
During the round table meeting, the minister spoke on the challenges faced for children and women, identified what can be done to eliminate the barriers and discussed the policies and frameworks of the government which are relevant to sector.
