High Court of Maldives has granted a period of 10-days for former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb to hire a lawyer.
During the appeal hearing, the former vice president requested the court to give him the opportunity to hire a lawyer. As his representative has exempted from the case. The court adjourned the hearing giving Adeeb 10-days to hire a representative.
The former vice president is facing corruption charges for allegedly transferring funds from Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation to bank accounts of his uncle Hamid Ismail and Millennium Capital Management Holdings Private Limited, a company Adeeb had previously worked at.
The funds were to be received to the state from the sale of Maabin Huraa in Lhaviyani Atoll.
